Stichting Moira
🎸Underground Culture & Music Space
Moira is a unique cooperative living space for creatives that doubles as an inspiring music and arts venue in Utrecht's city centre. What was once a squat has evolved into a secure, affordable home for artists who actively contribute to the city's cultural landscape, building upon the creative richness and diversity of Utrecht.
The basement venue hosts an eclectic range of events throughout the week. From intimate yoga sessions to explosive punk performances, quiet poetry readings to energetic band nights, the atmospheric underground space adapts to every creative vision. Every Wednesday features a welcoming open mic night where new voices can be heard.
The ground floor exhibition space provides a home for activist collectives organizing workshops, events, and exhibitions. Regular programming includes trans and queer hangouts, Palestine Café, book clubs, and patriarchy discussion sessions. The venue maintains an open library every Friday from 15:00 to 19:00, further cementing its role as a community hub.
Built on the creative richness and diversity of Utrecht, Moira thrives through the active participation of its residents in running both the living space and cultural venue. This collaborative approach creates an authentic, grassroots atmosphere that celebrates alternative culture and artistic experimentation.
Perfect for: Alternative music lovers, punk and experimental acts, poetry and spoken word enthusiasts, open mic performers, activist communities, LGBTQ+ groups, and anyone seeking an authentic underground cultural experience in Utrecht's city centre.
